The first seeds have been sown: aquilegia, cape gooseberry, rhodochiton and … astilbe. Typically, I can only ever remember 3 of the 4 at a time.
For the rhodochiton, I’ve used up all the seed. For the others, I’ve sown a good number, but still have more. They all have pretty long germination periods though, so I won’t be sure of my success rate for a while yet. It’s already pretty much mid-March though, so the next stage of sowing on the list is imminent.
The astilbe seed packet had had a big hard lump in it and I’d thought maybe it was a seed pod, but it was this plastic capsule that holds the teeny-tiny seeds. I came indoors to sow those in case the breeze swept them away!
